Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files that may be placed on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to site owners.
Cookies do not contain information that personally identifies you by name, but personal information that we store about you may be linked to information stored in or obtained from cookies where applicable.
2. Who We Are
This Cookie Policy applies to wavepirates.com, operated by Wave Pirates / WavePirates. We provide professional maritime services including vessel deliveries, technical surveys and dockyard assistance to shipping companies, yacht owners, fleet managers and maritime professionals worldwide.
3. How We Use Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use first-party browser storage to remember your optional analytics consent choice so the banner does not reappear on every visit. Essential site functionality, including the enquiry form, works regardless of that choice.
Third-party services used to operate and improve the website may also store or access cookies or similar technologies on your device when applicable.
The services we use include:
Cloudflare Web Analytics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregated website usage, such as page views and referral sources. Cloudflare Web Analytics is privacy-first and does not use client-side state such as cookies or localStorage to collect usage metrics. For more information, visit cloudflare.com/web-analytics and cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
Google Analytics 4 (optional, consent-based)
Google Analytics 4 (GA4) is loaded only if you explicitly accept analytics in our consent banner or reopen your choice via the Analytics preferences link in the site footer. If you reject analytics, GA4 is not loaded and no GA4 measurement cookies are set by our site.
When enabled, GA4 helps us understand aggregated site usage (for example pages visited and referral sources). We do not intentionally send enquiry form contents to Google Analytics — including names, email addresses, phone numbers, or message text. Google advertising, remarketing, Google Signals, and Google Ads are not enabled on this site.
For more information, visit policies.google.com and support.google.com/analytics.
Cloudflare (hosting and security)
Our website is hosted and delivered through Cloudflare Workers and Static Assets. Cloudflare may use cookies or similar technologies for security, performance, and reliability purposes (for example, to distinguish trusted traffic or mitigate abuse). For more information, visit cloudflare.com/privacypolicy.
Cloudflare Turnstile
The enquiry form uses Cloudflare Turnstile as an anti-abuse control against automated traffic. It is part of the essential security path for form submission and is separate from optional Google Analytics 4.
Google Fonts
We load typography from Google Fonts. When your browser requests these font files, Google may receive technical data such as your IP address. Google may use cookies in connection with this service. For more information, visit policies.google.com.
4. How Long Do Cookies Last
Cookies may be session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent cookies (remaining for a set period or until you delete them). Retention periods depend on the third-party service that sets each cookie.
Our analytics preference is stored in first-party browser storage (localStorage) so the banner does not reappear on every visit. It remains until you clear site data or change your choice via Analytics preferences. This site does not set a cookie expiry for that preference.
Cloudflare Web Analytics does not use client-side cookies or localStorage for usage metrics. If you accept analytics, Google Analytics 4 may set first-party measurement cookies. This site does not configure a custom GA4 cookie lifetime, and we do not publish third-party cookie retention periods that are not set in our configuration.
5. Managing and Disabling Cookies
You can accept or reject optional Google Analytics at any time using the consent banner on your first visit or the Analytics preferences link in the site footer.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to view stored cookies, block all or specific cookies, and delete cookies when you close your browser.
Disabling certain cookies may affect website functionality or your experience. For browser guidance, visit the support pages for Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Safari, or Microsoft Edge.
6. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, legislation or our business practices. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
